Mexican Milk Snake

Mexican Milk Snake
Lampropeltis triangulum annulata


Adult Size: ranging from 24-30 inches in length, heavily-bodied compared to other milk snakes


Temperature Requirements: should keep temperature between 78-85 degrees Fahrenheit. should drop the temperature during night. temperature over 90 degrees Fahrenheit are undesirable.


Range: Found in the South Texas plains. Freer, Texas is a popular collecting location. Also in North Eastern Mexico in places like Coahuila, Tamaulipas, and Nuevo Leon.


Habitat: They are normally found in semi-arid brush areas with sandy soil. Usually spend the days in hiding under logs or in burrows.


Feeding: In the wild they eat smaller snakes, lizards, and mice. If they normally eat lizards and you want to put them into captivity and feed mice than you have to ween them away from lizards. As an adult the largest rodent they eat is a small adult mouse.
